Members of the Southminster Choir will be joining the other Downriver Presbyterian Church choirs for a wonderful afternoon of music as they present  "Candles and Carols" Christmas Cantata.  The concert will be at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 8 beginning at 3:00pm.  Following the concert there will be some light holiday refreshments.  Talk to your friends, some may want to carpool. This is often referred to as a Longest Night Service as it is usually held around Winter Solstice which is when the earth is tilted the furthest from the sun, and in the Northern Hemisphere marking the day with the least amount of daylight and thus the longest night of "darkness".  There are times in our lives that seem like the darkest of winters. We know that suffering is part of the human condition, but death, illness, loss of relationships, and a complete lack of peace on earth can make us forget God’s steadfast faithfulness. If that speaks to your life this year, The Service of Hope and Comfort  is a meaning, healing opportunity to pause and reflect.
